When Jesus rode into Jerusalem on that “Palm Sunday”, He rode upon a young male foal of a female donkey. Matthew the apostle in his gospel (Matt 21:1-9) wrote;
“And when they came near to Jerusalem, and came to Bethsphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, go into the village opposite you, and straight away ye will find a donkey tied, and a colt with it, having loosed them, bring to me. And if any man says anything to you, ye will say, The Lord has need of them, and straightaway he will send them.
Now all this came to pass, so that what was spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled, which says, say ye to the daughter of Zion, behold, thy king come to thee, meek, and mounted upon a donkey, and a colt the foal of a pack animal. And the disciples having gone, and having done as Jesus commanded them, they brought the donkey and the colt, and put their garment over them, and they set him thereon. And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way others cut down branches from the trees, and spread them on the road. And the multitudes who went ahead and those who followed, cried out, saying, Hosanna to the son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. “
“That young donkey is most likely a “teenage” donkey. As I took a deeper look, I kept seeing a connection between the donkey story and God’s planned destiny for young people everywhere.This book is about that young Donkey. I believe we are about to embark upon one of the most fascinating challenge and encouragement every teenager needs as we learn from the story of this ordinary donkey. As a donkey carried Jesus’s presence into the city, teenagers should become bearers of God’s presence. God wants to use you young people to access certain places, certain areas, and certain realms.” – ‘Wola Ojo
